Artist's Statement: You Are Here

This series of work draws together the quiet and intriguing worlds of unoccupied seating. Whether we consider these to be places of relaxation or anticipation, of habitual use or of temporary and unwelcome necessity, is often a projection of our own desires upon the scene. In other words, in an environment that suggests the need for a fixed, human subject but does not provide one, the subject is the viewers themselves.
